1 c. butter
3/4 c. powdered sugar
2 c. flour
3/4 tsp. vanilla
Dash of salt
Cream butter and add powdered sugar slowly. Add vanilla and salt. Slowly add flour and mix thoroughly. This mixture will be thick and you may need to knead it. Chill for easier handling. Roll out 1/3" thick on board covered with powdered sugar. Bake at 375 degrees for approximately 15 minutes. Watch carefully as ovens may vary. When cookies are just starting to lightly brown on edges, remove from oven. I usually lightly ice with powdered sugar frosting.
