EASY BUTTERMILK ROLLS | |
Bring to boil 1 cup buttermilk. Remove from heat. Stir in: 1/2 tsp. baking soda 3 tbsp. sugar 1 tsp. salt Cool to lukewarm. Beat 1 egg in large mixing bowl. Add cooled mixture and 1 package yeast. Stir until dissolved; add approximately 3 cups flour. Knead well. Shape into round rolls or Parkerhouse rolls. Brush tops with melted butter. Bake at 375 degrees for 20 minutes. Also makes lovely cinnamon rolls. Roll 1/2 dough to a thin sheet. Spread with butter, sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar mixture, nuts and raisins. Roll up and slice 2 inch slices. Brush cut sides with melted butter. Bake at 375 degrees for 20 minutes. Ice with thin powdered sugar icing. |
