ONE HOUR BUTTERMILK ROLLS | |
2 cakes yeast 1/4 c. warm water 1 1/2 c. lukewarm buttermilk 3 tbsp. sugar 1/2 c. melted shortening or peanut oil 4 1/2 c. flour (1/2 can be whole wheat) 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. salt Crumble yeast into warm water, add buttermilk, sugar and shortening. Sift into this the flour, soda and salt. Beat until smooth. Let stand for 10 minutes. Roll out and shape into rolls. Let rise about 30 minutes in warm place. Bake until lightly browned, about 15 to 20 minutes at 400 degrees. 2 dozen. |
