BUTTERMILK OR CINNAMON ROLLS 
1 c. buttermilk
1/4 c. shortening
1/4 c. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 pkg. yeast
1/2 c. warm water
5 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 egg

Heat buttermilk to lukewarm. Add and dissolve shortening, sugar and salt. Dissolve yeast in warm water and add to milk mixture. To this add 1 cup flour, soda and egg. Beat well. Add remaining flour (may take less). Knead for 5 minutes or until dough is smooth. Let rise (in a greased bowl) 45 minutes or until bubbles appear. Knead slightly. Roll out and cut to desired shapes. Let rise again. Bake 18 to 20 minutes at 375 degrees.
