ROLLED WHEAT OR OAT CAKE 
1 c. quick oats or wheat
1 1/4 c. boiling water
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. white sugar
2 eggs
1 1/3 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla

TOPPING:

1 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. evaporated milk
4 tbsp. melted butter
1 c. nuts
1 c. coconut

Mix oats and water. Let stand 20 minutes. Cream together butter and sugars. Add to oat mixture. Add eggs. Mix together and add flour, salt, cinnamon, soda and vanilla. Bake in greased 9 x 13 inch pan at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes.

Topping: Cream sugar, milk, butter, nuts and coconut. Spread over warm cake. Put under broiler for 3-5 minutes.
