TEA CAKES 
1 c. shortening or butter
1/4 tsp. salt
2 c. sugar
4 eggs
2 tsp. powder
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. buttermilk
2 tsp. vanilla
5 c. flour

Combine shortening, salt and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time. Stir in buttermilk. Add dry ingredients. Dough will be moist. Roll out and cut with biscuit cutter (or favorite shape). Bake at 400 degrees for 8-10 minutes. (For a holiday flare, substitute 1 teaspoon almond flavoring for half of vanilla.)
