TEA CAKES 
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar, packed
1 egg
1/2 tsp. vanilla
3 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/4 c. buttermilk
1/4 tsp. nutmeg

Cream butter and sugars until light and fluffy. Add egg and vanilla. Sift flour, measure, sift again with baking powder, soda and nutmeg. Add dry ingredients and buttermilk alternately to creamed mixture.

Chill dough. Roll out to 1/8 inch thickness on lightly floured board. Cut with cookie cutters. Bake on lightly greased baking sheet at 400 degrees for 8 minutes.
