WILTED LETTUCE 
3 strips bacon
1/2 c. vinegar
1/2 c. water
2 tbsp. flour, dissolved
1/2 head lettuce, broken in sm. pieces
1 sm. onion, chopped

Fry strips of bacon; drain off drippings. Crumble bacon. Add 1 tablespoon drippings to vinegar, water and flour; let simmer a few minutes. Add salt and sugar to taste. Pour hot over lettuce and onion. Sprinkle bacon over.
