THIMBLES 
1/2 c. butter
1/4 c. sugar
1 egg yolk, slightly beaten
1 c. flour
1 egg white
1 c. finely chopped nuts
1/2 c. jam, jelly or preserves

Cream butter, add sugar, add egg yolk. Add sifted flour and vanilla. Make dough into balls about size of marbles. Roll in fluffy egg white, then roll in nuts, place on greased cookie sheet and make a dent in each ball with thimble. Bake 5 minutes, remove from oven and press dents deeper. Return to oven and bake until lightly brown, at 350 degrees. Remove from oven and fill dents with jelly.
