SPICY RED CABBAGE 
5 c. shredded red cabbage
1 c. diced apple
1/2 c. raisins
1/2 c. chopped onion
1/4 c. water
2 tbsp. butter or bacon drippings
2 tbsp. vinegar
1 tbsp. sugar
3/4 tsp. salt
Dash of pepper
1 tsp. mixed spices tied in wet cheesecloth (optional)

Place all ingredients in slow cooker; cover. Cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours; stir occasionally. Yields 4-6 servings. Source: Crock Pot Cookbook.
