SPICY RED CABBAGE 
1 c. seedless raisins
4 tbsp. fat or bacon drippings
7 c. of red cabbage, coarsely shredded
2 c. apples, sliced
4 tbsp. cider vinegar
1 c. onion, chopped
1 tsp. mixed spices tied in a cloth
1 1/2 tsp. pepper
2 tbsp. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. salt

Cover raisins with warm water for several minutes. Drain. Mix all ingredient together. Add enough water needed to cook until tender.
