LAYERED LETTUCE SALAD 
1 head lettuce, broken into pieces
1/2 c. chopped celery
1 sm. can water chestnuts, sliced
1/2 c. chopped green pepper
1/4 c. chopped onion
1 pkg. frozen peas, thawed
2 c. mayonnaise not salad dressing
1-2 tsp. sugar
4-6 oz. Cheddar cheese, shredded
10 slices bacon, fried crisp

Put lettuce in a single layer in a 9 x 13 inch glass dish. Put remaining ingredients on top in layers. Spread mayonnaise over top, sprinkle with sugar. Add shredded cheese, crush bacon and distribute over top. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
