Crispy Pork Steaks with Onions and Apples

 Patricia Kelvin (Pennsylvania) says:
This recipe sounded so good - until I got to the actual cooking. The onions on top of the pork didn't cook. The top of the pork was browned, but I wouldn't call it crispy. The bottom of the pork didn't absorb the seasonings, and the apples were essentially flavor-free. This recipe will not be one that I'll save.

I followed the recipe, but I season the apples separate with cinnamon, nutmeg, sugar, brown sugar and lemon juice. Then I put apples on top of pork steak and onions. It is like a sweet and spice crispy pork steak.

I've never reviewed a recipe before, but this was so delicious, I absolutely had to extend my thanks to the original poster - and to the reviewers. I followed the recipe exactly, and took the suggestion of of other reviewers to include sage. The flavor combo was outstanding. Served with plain buttered egg noodles and steamed veggies. Sublime!

I didn't have any idea what it was going to taste like. Apple under the steak, onion on top, I had no clue.

It turned out excellent, everybody loved it

Great Recipe

Thanks

We used 1/8th inch sliced granny smith apples for our bottom layer and added rubbed sage to our dry seasoning. Glazed carrots on the side and glasses of sweet sangria gave additional color to the plate. Simply amazing!

I added a hoppy IPA (Magic Hat HI.P.A.) poured on top before I put the onions down, and it turned out delicious.

Very good and very easy. I added a bit of rosemary, my personal taste preference. Everyone loved 'em, used the juice to put on rice also, DELICIOSO!!!

Really tasty. I added a bit of sage because I like that on my pork. Juicy and the broth makes a great sauce for the rice. Yummy!!!!!!!!!
