SMOTHERED STEAK 
2-3 lb. round steak, 1/2 inch thick, cut into servings
1/3 c. oil for browning meat
Salt, pepper, and dash thyme to taste
2 sm. cans mushrooms gravy
1 onion, sliced
1 c. water

In electric skillet, heat oil until hot. Season meat, roll in flour, brown in hot oil in each side. (Cook quickly to seal in meat juices.) Drain off oil. Add mushroom gravy, onion, 1 cup water. Cover and simmer at 325 degrees until tender, 50-60 minutes. Potatoes may be added with onion but is best served with German mashed potatoes, corn on cob, tossed salad and homemade gooseberry pie.
