CHRISTMAS COOKIES 
2 1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. ginger
2 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 c. sugar
3/4 c. shortening
1 egg
1/4 c. molasses

Sift flour, soda and spices together. Cream sugar and shortening until light. Beat in molasses. Add flour mixture gradually, mix well after each addition. Chill dough until firm. Work with small amount of dough, keeping rest in refrigerator. Roll out 1/4 inch thick on floured surface. Use cookie cutters to cut in shapes. Use greased cookie sheet at 350 degrees for 7 minutes. Decorate with icing and sprinkles.
