CHOCOLATE CHIPPERS 
1 c. shortening
1/2 c. brown sugar
2 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. baking soda
2 (6 oz.) pkgs. chocolate chips
1 c. crushed peppermint candy
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 1/4 tsp. salt
2 c. flour, sifted
1 c. broken walnuts

Cream together shortening, sugars, eggs, and vanilla until light and fluffy. Sift together dry ingredients. Stir into creamed mixture, blending well. Add chocolate pieces and walnuts. If desired, add 1 cup crushed peppermint candy. Drop from teaspoon on greased cookie sheet 2 inches apart. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes.
