RED VELVET CAKE | |
1/2 c. shortening 1 1/2 c. sugar 2 eggs 2 oz. red food coloring 2 tbsp. cocoa 2 1/2 c. flour 1 tsp. salt 1 tsp. vanilla 1 c. buttermilk 1 tsp. baking soda 1 tbsp. vinegar Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs and beat well. In a separate cup mix food coloring and cocoa. Add this to first mixture. Add flour, salt, vanilla and buttermilk. Mix well. In a separate cup dissolve soda in vinegar. Add to cake batter. Grease and flour cake pans. Bake batter at 350 degrees for 30 to 40 minutes. |
