2 c. sugar
2 c. water
1 c. applesauce
2 c. raisins
2 tsp. cinnamon
1/3 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. nutmeg
Pinch of salt
2/3 c. shortening
2 tsp. baking soda
3 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder

Let first 9 ingredients come to a boil and boil 2 minutes. Cool completely. Add soda, flour, and baking powder. Bake 45 minutes in 350 degree oven in a large cake pan.

ICING:

Add a little orange juice to 1/2 cup sugar (regular) and glaze cake while warm.
