FRENCH ONION SOUP 
1/4 c. butter
3 lg. onions, sliced (about 4 c.)
1 tsp. sugar
1 tbsp. all-purpose flour
2 1/2 c. water
2 (10 1/2 oz.) cans condensed beef broth

In a 4-quart saucepan, over medium heat, cook onions and sugar in hot butter for 10 minutes. Stir in flour until well blended with the onions and pan juices. Add water, wine and undiluted beef broth; heat to boiling. Reduce heat to low; cover and simmer 10 minutes. Serves 4.
