FRENCH ONION SOUP | |
3 tbsp. butter 3 c. thinly sliced onions 2 tbsp. flour 1 tbsp. sugar 1 tsp. salt 1 qt. beef bouillon or brown stock 1/4 c. dry vermouth 4-6 slices French bread, toasted 4 oz. shredded Mozzarella cheese 1/2 c. grated Parmesan cheese Melt butter; add onions and saute until golden brown. Stir in flour, sugar and salt. Place onions in crockpot and add bouillon and vermouth. Stir well. Cover and cook on LOW 6-8 hours (HIGH: 2-4 hours). Before serving, remove cover and top with French bread and cheese. Broil until cheese is melted and brown. |
