CREAMY FRENCH ONION SOUP 
3 tbsp. butter
4 c. thinly sliced onions
1 tsp. sugar
1/8 tsp. pepper
3 tbsp. flour
2 cans (10 1/2 oz.) beef bouillon
2 1/2 c. milk
Bread
Swiss cheese, grated

Melt butter and add onions. Cover and cook for 15 minutes. Uncover and stir in sugar and pepper. Cook over medium high heat until onions are golden-brown, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat. Stir in flour and add the bouillon stirring constantly. Cover and simmer for 15 minutes stirring occasionally. Stir in milk and heat to serving temperature. While soup is simmering, toast bread on both sides. Butter lightly and sprinkle cheese on each slice. Broil until cheese is melted. Serve soup in heated bowls and top each bowl with a piece of cheese bread.
