FUDGE CAKE 
1/2 c. butter
2 1/2 c. sugar
2 1/2 c. plain flour
1 1/2 c. milk
3 eggs, separated
2 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. vanilla flavoring
2 or 3 squares bitter sweet chocolate, melted
1 c. nuts, if desired

Cream butter well and add yolks, cream again. Add sugar gradually. Add flour and milk alternately. Add melted chocolate. Then fold in beaten egg whites. Add baking powder and vanilla. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes.

ICING:

1 1/2 c. sugar
2 squares chocolate
1 piece butter, egg size
1/2 c. boiling water

Stir all together in saucepan until it boils around edges, then a good rolling boil for 5 minutes exactly. Allow to cool and beat until creamy. If too thick, add a few drops of milk one at a time to get the right consistency.
