GINGERSNAPS 
3/4 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup molasses
1 beaten egg
2 cups flour
1/2 tsp salt
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp cloves
1 tsp ginger
1 tsp cinnamon

Cream shortening and sugar. Add molasses and egg and beat well. Add dry ingredients and mix well. Roll in small balls. Dip in sugar and place 2 inches apart on greased cookie sheet. Cookies will spread as they bake.

Bake at 375°FF for 15 minutes.

Makes 4 dozen.
