SWEET AND SOUR SAUCE 
1/4 c. vinegar
1 c. catsup
1 tbsp. soy sauce
1/2 c. red or green pepper, cubed
1/2 c. honey or brown sugar, packed
1/2 tsp. salt
1 (8 oz.) can pineapple chunks (opt.)
Water, as desired
2 tbsp. cornstarch

Mix all ingredients except cornstarch in saucepan. Bring to a boil. Turn heat down to simmer, stirring occasionally. Cook for at least 20 minutes to allow flavors to blend. Dissolve cornstarch in small amount of water. Add cornstarch. (You can omit the cornstarch and allow sauce to thicken by cooking it longer.) Use the sauce on beef, chicken or pork. Makes 2 cups.
