STONE JAR NUT COOKIES 
1 c. shortening
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. nutmeg or pumpkin pie spice
2 c. brown sugar
2 eggs, well beaten
3 c. all-purpose flour, sifted
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 c. milk
1 c. nuts, chopped

Combine shortening, salt, vanilla, and nutmeg or pumpkin pie spice. Add brown sugar gradually and cream well. Add beaten eggs and mix well. Sift flour with baking soda. Add 1/2 of flour to creamed mixture, then add milk, then remaining flour and nuts, mixing well. Drop from teaspoon on greased baking sheets. Bake at 375 degrees 8 to 10 minutes. Keep in airtight container.
