CRUSTY FRENCH BREAD 
1 c. warm water
1 pkg. yeast
2 tbsp. sugar
2 tbsp. shortening
1 1/2 tsp. salt
3 c. flour
Cornmeal

Dissolve yeast in warm water. Add remaining ingredients except cornmeal and mix until stiff dough forms. Push down once or twice. Shape into loaf. Put on cookie sheet with cornmeal instead of grease. Let rise. Bake in 375 degree oven for 30 minutes.
