SOUTHERN BISCUITS 
2 c. flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
6 tbsp. shortening
2/3 c. milk

Heat oven to 450 degrees. Measure flour by dip, level measure. Add baking powder and salt. Cut in shortening with a pastry knife until mixture looks like course meal. Stir in milk, add enough to make a soft pliable dough. Pound up lightly on floured board. Knead lightly 20 to 25 times. Roll dough to 1/4 inch. Cut with biscuit cutter or glass dipped in flour. Bake on ungreased baking sheet 10 to 12 minutes.
