NUTTY CRESCENTS 
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. shortening
1/3 c. sugar
2 tsp. water
2 tsp. vanilla
2 c. all-purpose flour
1/2 c. chopped black walnuts

Cream butter, shortening and sugar together. Mix in water and vanilla, then flour and nuts. Chill for 3 1/2 hours. Form dough in long rolls, 1/2-inch across. Cut in 3-inch lengths and shape in crescents.

Bake on ungreased cookie sheet in 325°F oven for 15 minutes. (Do not brown cookies.) Remove from heat and cool slightly. Roll in confectioners sugar.

Makes about 4 dozen.
