DAD'S HEART SMART HEALTH BREAD 
2 c. apple juice, cider or other juice
1 c. raisins or currants or dates
Approximately 1 c. milk
1 c. dry rolled oats
1 c. oat bran
1 c. whole wheat flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. freshly grated nutmeg
1 c. chopped pecans or walnuts or other

Bring to boil in small saucepan the apple juice and raisins; reduce heat and simmer 5 minutes; set aside.

Grease 9x5 pan. Combine cooled raisins in juice with dry ingredients in bowl; blend well. Add 1 cup milk until batter remains thick, but not too dry. Pour into prepared pan.

Bake at 350 degrees (325 degrees glass pan) for 40-45 minutes until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pan on wire rack 10 minutes before removing to finish cooling on rack. Serve warm or cold. Store in refrigerator wrapped in foil.
