AUNT BILL'S MICROWAVE CANDY 
2 c. sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. buttermilk
3/4 c. butter
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. chopped nuts

Cook this in a microwave-safe container which holds 3 times the amount of ingredients, or it will boil over. Combine sugar, soda, buttermilk and butter. Cover with plastic; punch holes in wrap. Microwave on Roast 15 minutes. Stir and continue cooking on Roast 13 to 15 minutes until soft ball forms in cold water (or 236 degrees on candy thermometer). Do not put thermometer in microwave. Add vanilla and beat with electric mixer until soft peaks form. Watch closely. Stir in pecans and pour into buttered 7"x12" dish. Cool; cut in pieces.

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.
