DILL PICKLES 
For 1 gallon of liquid:

1 qt. white vinegar
3 qts. water
3 tbsp. all-pickling spices
3/4 c. Kosher salt

Combine all of the above and bring to a boil.

To each gallon of pickles, place 1 large grape leaf and 2 stalks of dill in the bottom of the jar. Place a layer of cukes; then another layer of dill; 1 clove of garlic - 1 hot red pepper; end with a layer of cukes. Add 1 teaspoon of alum. Cover all with boiling water.
