DELICIOUS OATMEAL CAKE 
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. white sugar
2 eggs
1/4 lb. butter
1 c. quick oatmeal (uncooked)
1 1/4 c. boiling water
1 1/3 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. cinnamon

Pour boiling water over oats, let set 10 minutes. Cream shortening, sugar and eggs. Add soaked oats and dry ingredients. Mix well. Pour into 13 x 9 x 2 inch pan, greased and floured. Mix and spread over cake the following topping before baking at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes.

TOPPING:

3/4 c. brown sugar
1 c. coconut
1 1/2 c. nut meats
3 tbsp. melted butter
3 tbsp. milk
