REV.'S DILL PICKLES | |
Med. size cucumbers, to fill jars Red & green peppers Whole black pepper Bay leaves Horseradish Dill, fresh Coarse salt Powdered alum Vinegar Wash medium-size cucumbers. Put in cold water overnight. In the morning wipe dry and put in jars with a piece of dill. In each jar put 2 slices of red or green pepper, 1 teaspoon whole black pepper, 2 large bay leaves and 2 slices horseradish. To 18 quarts of cucumbers use 6 quarts water, 1 pound coarse salt and 1 teaspoon powdered alum. Let it come to a boil. Put in 1 quart vinegar. When boiling put on cucumbers and seal. |
