SPICED NUTS 
1 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 c. water
2 c. mixed salted nuts

Combine first 6 ingredients in a saucepan; stir well. Place over medium heat, stirring constantly, until sugar dissolves then cook to a soft ball stage, 232 degrees. Remove from heat; add nuts, stirring well until coated. Spread nuts on waxed paper; separate with fork. Cool. Yield: 2 cups.
