HELEN'S TOFFEE SQUARES 
1 c. butter, softened to room temp.
1 c. brown sugar
1 egg yolk
2 tsp. vanilla
1 7/8 c. all-purpose flour
6 milk chocolate bars (1.65 oz. each)
1 c. chopped toasted almonds or pecans

In mixing bowl cream together butter and brown sugar until light colored and fluffy. Add egg yolk and vanilla; gradually beat in flour until smooth and blended. (Dough will be thick.) Spread evenly on ungreased 16x14x1 inch baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes or until crust is golden brown and puffy. Remove from oven.

Arrange unwrapped chocolate bars evenly over surface of crust; let stand for 5 minutes to soften. Spread chocolate evenly over crust; sprinkle with chopped nuts. Cool; cut into squares. Yield: 40 squares.
