WALNUT FINGERS 
3/4 c. shortening (use some butter)
3/4 c. confectioners' sugar
1 1/4 c. plus 2 tbsp. flour
2 eggs
Scant c. brown sugar
2 tbsp. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 c. chopped walnuts

Oven, 350 degrees. Cream shortenings and confectioners' sugar. Blend in flour. Press evenly in bottom of ungreased baking pan, 13 x 9 x 2 inch. Bake 12 to 15 minutes. Mix remaining ingredients. Spread over hot baked layer and bake 20 minutes longer. Cool. Cut into bars or squares.
