DATE PUDDING 
1 c. chopped dates
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. boiling water
1 c. granulated sugar
1 tbsp. butter
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. nut meats
1 1/2 c. flour

Pour boiling water over chopped dates and soda. Let stand while mixing remaining ingredients. Combine. Pour in 10-inch square pan in slow oven. Cut in squares and serve with whipped cream.
