SAVORY SAUSAGE RICE | |
1 lb. ground pork sausage 1 1/4 c. chopped celery 1/2 c. green pepper 1/3 c. chopped onion 1 env. Lipton chicken noodle soup (dry) 2 1/4 c. water 1/2 c. rice 1/2 c. slivered almonds 2 tbsp. butter Brown sausage in Dutch oven. Drain fat. Add celery, green pepper and onion. Saute until tender. Combine soup mix and boiling water in 3 quart saucepan. Stir in rice. Cover and simmer 15 to 20 minutes until rice is tender. Add rice mixture to sausage, stir well. Pour into lightly greased 2 to 3 quart baking dish or casserole. Sprinkle with almonds. Drizzle with butter. Bake at 375 degrees for 20 minutes or until hot. Serves 5. |
