STEAMED DATE PUDDING 
PART 1:

1 lb. seedless dates, cut up
1 c. boiling water
1 tsp. baking soda

PART 2:

1 c. sugar
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. walnuts, chopped
1 tbsp. butter
2 c. flour
Pinch salt
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 egg

Mix dry ingredients and add to egg, sugar and butter that has been creamed. Add date mixture. Steam at 350 degrees for 1 1/2 hours.

SAUCE:

1 c. sugar
1 tbsp. butter
1 tsp. vanilla or lemon or almond (your choice)
1 tbsp. flour or cornstarch
2 c. hot water

Cook over slow heat, stirring until thickened.
