MOSTACCIOLI 
1 lb. ground beef
2 tbsp. shortening
1 lg. onion, chopped fine
1 clove garlic, minced
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper
2 c. water
1 (#2 1/2) can tomatoes, chopped fine
12 oz. tomato paste
1 tsp. oregano
1 tsp. baking soda
1 lg. tsp. sugar
1 lb. mostaccioli noodles
3/4 c. Parmesan cheese
1 lb. Mozzarella cheese, shredded

Brown ground beef and set aside. In large saucepan melt shortening and brown onion and garlic. Add tomatoes, tomato paste, seasonings and water. Cover and simmer for 1 hour. Add baking soda, simmer 10 more minutes. Add sugar. Cook noodles, but do not overcook.

Mix together noodles, ground beef, sauce mixture and Parmesan cheese in a 9x12 pan. Cover with Mozzarella cheese and bake 35 minutes in a 350 oven.
