HALF-HOUR APPLE BUTTER 
In 1 1/2 quart heavy saucepan combine:

2 c. unsweetened applesauce (homemade or jarred)
1/4 - 1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. allspice
1/8 tsp. ginger
1/8 tsp. cloves

Bring to boil; cook 1/2 hour, stirring often.

Makes 1 1/4 cups.

PEAR BREAD WITH APPLE BUTTER:

1/2 c. butter
1 c. granulated sugar
2 eggs
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/8 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 c. yogurt or buttermilk
1 c. coarsely chopped, cored pears
1 tsp. vanilla

Cream butter, gradually beat in sugar. Beat in eggs, one at a time. Combine dry ingredients, add to egg mixture, alternately with yogurt. Stir in pears and vanilla.

Pour into greased and floured 9"x5"x3" loaf pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.
