1/2 c. shortening 1 1/2 c. sugar 1 1/2 tsp. salt 2 1/2 c. mashed potatoes 2 eggs 2 c. boiling milk 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. vanilla 2 pkg. dry yeast soaked in 1/2 c. warm water and 1 tsp. sugar Put shortening, sugar, potatoes in large bowl. Pour the boiling milk over it, adding slowly and stirring until smooth. Let yeast soak 5 minutes. To milk mixture, add soda, baking powder and salt. Stir and add vanilla. Add 1 cup flour, stir. Beat eggs into dough. Add yeast and 5 cups flour. Beat smooth. If dough is sticky, add a little more flour. Knead a little. Cover and let rice until double. Roll out. Cut and let rise. Fry and sugar. |
