CHRISTMAS "CANE" COOKIES 
1 1/4 c. butter
1 c. confectioners' sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. almond extract
3 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
Red food coloring
Red and green decorating sugars
1 egg white

Cream butter and sugar. Add egg and extracts and beat until fluffy. Blend in flour and salt. Divide dough in half. Tint half of dough red! Roll strips of white dough and red dough. Twist and cut into 4 inch long "candy cane." Curve one end to form handle. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Brush with egg white and sprinkle with decorating sugar. Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes.
