WATER BAGELS 
4 1/4 to 4 1/2 c. flour
2 pkg. yeast
1 1/2 c. warm water, not too hot
3 tbsp. sugar
1 tbsp. salt

Place 1 1/2 cups flour, yeast, sugar, salt and water in bowl. Beat well with electric beater 1/2 minute on low speed, then 3 minutes at high speed. Stir in enough flour to make stiff dough. Turn onto flour board and knead until smooth. Cover and let rest 15 minutes. Shape into 12 balls. Punch hold in center and stretch hole by rotating your two index fingers in hole. Let rise. Bring 1 gallon of water to a boil. Drop bagels into simmering water and cook for 7 - 8 minutes, turning once. Drain and place on greased cookie sheets. Bake at 375 degrees for about 35 minutes.
