DOUBLE CHOCOLATE BREAD | |
3 c. sifted flour 3 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. salt 1 egg 1 1/4 c. milk 1 c. brown sugar, firmly packed 1/4 c. melted shortening 3 sqs. unsweetened chocolate, melted 1 (6 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate pieces 1/2 c. maraschino cherries, drained and chopped Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Sift flour, baking powder, and salt. Stir in egg, milk, then brown sugar. Grease and flour 3 (6 x 3 x 2 1/4 inch) miniature loaf pans. Add to batter, melted shortening and chocolate, stirring until blended. Stir in chocolate chips and cherries. Divide batter between 3 pans. Bake about 45 minutes or until done. Cool in pans for about 15 minutes, then remove and finish cooling. May be baked in 9 x 5 x 3 inch loaf pan at 350 degrees for 1 hour and 15 minutes. |
