MINCEMEAT PIE
(Mom Sheldon's sons agree that she made the best mincemeat pie around! She shared the recipe with me the winter before she passed away as well as she could remember--it passed the test that Christmas and I'm so happy to have it in my collection. According to Gary, it's good warm or cold.)

8" unbaked pie shell plus enough dough for top crust
1 1/4 c. (each) leftover roast, raisins, apples (with skins)
1 c. (each) sugar, water
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/8 tsp. (each) cloves, salt

Grind first 3 ingredients in a meat grinder; mix all ingredients together and cook until tender (about 5 minutes). Remove from heat and cool a bit. Pour into pie shell; cover with crust that has slits in it. Add a little milk on top and sprinkle with sugar. Bake 50 minutes at 350 degrees.
