BOILED RAISIN CAKE | |
4 c. flour 2 c. sugar 1 tsp. nutmeg 1 tsp. cinnamon 1 lb. raisins 2 c. water 1 tsp. salt 2 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. cloves 1 c. chopped nuts 1/2 c. lard Steam raisins for 15 minutes in 2 cups of water. Remove from stove and add 1/2 cup of lard, 2 cups of cold water. Cool and add to dry ingredients. Stir by hand. Bake in 9 x 13 inch pan or 2 bread pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. |
