HOMINY TAMALE PIE 
3/4 lb. round steak
3 tbsp. shortening
1 sm. onion, cut fine
6 tsp. chili powder
1 sm. can ripe olives, chopped
3 tbsp. flour
Small amount of water
1 tsp. salt
1 qt. hominy

Heat the shortening in frying pan, saute chopped onion. Cut meat in small pieces and brown slightly with onion. Add small amount of water. Let meat cook gently until tender. Add chili powder and flour and mix to a paste with more water. Cook until smooth, stirring constantly. Let boil a few minutes, adding a little water if necessary, to make good gravy.

Put hominy through meat grinder (or use food processor) and add a little salt. Put a layer of meat mixture into an oiled baking dish, then a layer of hominy, alternating until the ingredients are used, ending with the top layer of hominy. Bake for 30 minutes at 400 degrees.
