CHICKEN AND RICE BAKE 
1 stick butter
1 1/2 c. uncooked rice
1 lg. fryer, cut up (or your favorite chicken parts, 12 thighs, 10 breasts, etc.)
2 tsp. salt
Pepper to taste
1 pkg. dry onion soup or mushroom soup
3 c. water
12 slices cheese; optional

Melt butter in 9 x 13 baking dish or larger in 300 degree oven. Add rice, spread around dish. Place chicken on top of rice. Add salt and pepper. Sprinkle dry soup on top. Add water. Cover with foil and bake 1 1/2 to 2 hours at 300 degrees. Cheese slices may be placed under chicken after taken from oven.
