BEULAH'S LASAGNA | |
1 (8 or 10 oz.) pkg. lasagna noodles 1 lb. ground meat 1/2 lb. sliced Mozzarella cheese 1 can tomato paste 1 lb. cottage cheese 1 onion 1 can tomatoes Grated Parmesan cheese Bay leaf Oregano Rosemary Marjoram Sweet basil Thyme Cook 1 (10 ounce) package lasagna noodles according to directions on package. Keep in cold water until needed. Make sauce as follows: Saute 1 pound ground meat and onion, chopped fine. Drain. Add 1 can tomato paste, 1 can tomatoes (chopped), 2 tomato cans of water. Season with 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/8 teaspoon pepper, 1 bay leaf, 1 teaspoon oregano, 1/4 teaspoon each of rosemary, sweet basil, thyme, marjoram. Simmer 30 to 40 minutes. Remove bay leaf. Should be soupy. In a large oblong baking dish place layer of noodles lengthwise to cover bottom of dish. Spread with layer of sauce, then a layer of cottage cheese. Sprinkle with Parmesan. Another layer of noodles, crosswise to the first, then sauce, Mozzarella, cottage cheese and Parmesan in layers. Build up by layers. End with sauce topped by Parmesan and Mozzarella. Cover tightly with foil. Bake at 325 degrees for 40 minutes. Let stand at least 10 minutes before opening and serving. |
